GeoNames — city and region names
The city suggestions in JobPuul's location fields, and the region names shown alongside them, come from the GeoNames geographical database, used under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence.
Specifically we use the cities15000, alternateNamesV2 and admin1CodesASCII
extracts: every populated place above 15,000 inhabitants, the alternate names that
let you find a city by its local spelling (typing Praha finds Prague, München
finds Munich), and the first-level region names that tell one Springfield from
another.
The data is redistributed as part of this application. It has been filtered and reformatted — we keep a subset of the fields and a subset of the alternate names — but the names themselves are unmodified.
GeoNames is not affiliated with JobPuul and does not endorse it.
Country names
Country names are not redistributed data: they are produced at runtime by your own device or our server from the Unicode CLDR data built into the JavaScript runtime, which is why they appear in your language automatically.
