Several people can run one company. This article covers the three roles, inviting a colleague, answering an invitation, changing or removing members, and handing the company over.
The three roles
Every member has one role. All three can post, edit and close the company's jobs and service listings, and handle its applicants and enquiries. They differ in who runs the company itself:
- Owner can do everything: the company's details and domain, verifying it, its addresses, its members and other owners, and closing it.
- Company admin can edit the company's details and logo, and invite, change the role of or remove company admins and recruiters. Not the domain, not owners, not closing it.
- Recruiter works on the jobs, applicants, services and enquiries, and nothing else.
A company can have several owners. A company admin is a role inside one company; it has nothing to do with JobPuul's own staff.
The Members section of the company's page in Workspace → Companies lists everyone, with the date they joined, and says what your own role lets you do.
Invite a colleague
A company has to be verified before anyone can be invited — see Verifying a company.
- Open the company under Workspace → Companies.
- Under Invitations, in Invite a colleague, enter their Email address.
- Pick a Role. An owner can offer any role; a company admin can offer company admin or recruiter.
- Choose Send invitation.
We email that address a link that works once, for seven days. Until it is used the invitation is listed under Invitations, with who sent it and when it expires, and anyone who could have sent it can Revoke it. Inviting the same address again replaces the earlier link.
Accept or decline an invitation
The email asks you to join the company, names your role, and has a See the invitation button. Open it while signed in to a JobPuul account with the address it was sent to — create one if you have none.
We must have confirmed that address ourselves. If you only ever signed in with Google or another provider, set a password under Workspace → Security with Set a password by email: the link we send confirms the address. Then open the invitation again.
The page then offers Accept invitation, which adds you to the company with the role offered, or Decline. If you are already a member, accepting keeps your current role.
A link stops working once it expires, is revoked or has been used, if the person who sent it can no longer give that role, or if the company is closed. Ask for a new one.
Change a role or remove a member
In Members, each person you may manage has a role select and Remove:
- an owner can change anyone's role, make another member an owner, or remove anyone;
- a company admin can move people between company admin and recruiter, and remove them.
Removing asks you to confirm. Anyone can leave a company on their own with Leave company, on their own row or in the company's menu under Workspace → Companies.
The sole-owner rule
A company always has at least one owner. The last owner cannot step down to another role, be removed, or leave: we refuse with "A company needs at least one owner. Make someone else an owner first."
If you are the only owner and want out, you have three ways:
- make another member an owner, then step down or leave;
- hand the company over in one step — see below;
- close the company — see Creating a company.
The same applies before you delete your account: the privacy page lists every company you are the only owner of — see Privacy and your data.
Transfer ownership
An owner can hand the company to another member in one step, from the Transfer ownership section of its workspace page:
- Pick the New owner. They must already be a member, so invite them first.
- Under Then you, choose Stay as a company admin or Leave the company.
- Choose Transfer ownership and confirm.
Both changes happen together, so the company is never without an owner. A member who is suspended, or who has not signed in for a long time, cannot be made an owner.
