Notifications and email

Last updated November 5, 2026

What we tell you about, where you see it, and how to choose which emails reach you. It also covers changing the email address on your account.

Your notifications

Workspace → Notifications lists everything that happened to you, newest first. A dot on the bell at the top of the page means some are unread. Opening a conversation marks its notifications read, and Mark all read clears the rest. Notifications older than 12 months are deleted.

You are notified when:

  • someone applies to a job at a company you belong to;
  • a company moves one of your applications to a new status;
  • someone enquires about your services or your company, or the provider moves an enquiry you sent;
  • someone sends a message in an application or enquiry conversation you are part of;
  • we hide some of your content or suspend your account, with a link to our decision;
  • the only owner of a company you belong to has been inactive for a long time, so you can ask them to hand it over.

Email notifications

Most notifications also go to your email address.

Replies by email. When someone replies in an application or enquiry conversation you are part of, we email you, at most once per conversation every 15 minutes. The email says how many replies you have not read and links to the conversation; it never quotes them. If you read them in the app before it is due, it is not sent.

Choosing which emails you get is under Workspace → Email. Each kind of notification email can be switched off there:

  • New applications — when someone applies to a job at a company you belong to;
  • Application updates — when a company views, shortlists or declines your application;
  • New enquiries — when someone enquires about your services or your company;
  • Enquiry updates — when the provider views, accepts or declines an enquiry you sent;
  • Replies in conversations;
  • Listing reminders — a few days before one of your job listings expires.

Choose Save preferences when you are done. Switching an email off does not remove the notification from your inbox in the app. The same page sets the Email language we write to you in.

Unsubscribing from an email

Every notification email ends with a Manage email preferences link to the same page. Many email apps also show their own Unsubscribe button for our notification emails: it switches off that one kind, and nothing else. If it opens our page, choose Unsubscribe to confirm. You can turn the kind back on under Workspace → Email at any time.

Emails that always reach you

These go out whatever you choose:

  • links to verify an email address, and password reset links;
  • security alerts, such as a sign-in from a new device, a changed password or passkey, or two-factor authentication turned off — see Security emails;
  • links to confirm a change of your email address, and a notice once it has changed;
  • data export and account deletion links;
  • our reasons when we hide your content or suspend your account;
  • replies to a report or a message you send us;
  • invitations to help manage a company;
  • notice of changes to our policies, and a warning before we delete an inactive account.

We do not send marketing.

Changing your email address

You sign in with your address, and every email we send goes to it. To change it:

  1. Open Workspace → Email. Under Change your email address, enter the new one and choose Change email. If you have not signed in within the last hour, you are asked to sign in again first.
  2. We email a link to your current address. Open it and choose Confirm the change.
  3. We email a second link to the new address. Open it and choose Use this address. Your address changes, and you are signed in on that device.

Opening a link changes nothing until you press its button, and each link works once and for an hour. Afterwards the old address gets one last email saying the account no longer uses it. If you did not ask for a change, ignore the first link and change your password.
